Needham DBS was brought on board as a specialty tilt-up engineer for design and detailing of the concrete airflow towers.

Special detailing directly from BIM was required to accurately form the sloped and beveled panel edges. Special pocketed connections were also required to maintain a clear shaft inside, and a smooth exposed panel on the exterior.

Lithko and Needham DBS collaborated closely on a plan to construct the upper three-sided “box” and lid panels on the ground and erect the preassembled units as a single pick. The special lifting plan required special design and connection considerations, but greatly improved speed of erection and safety.
